  • Election...Election...Read all about it...

    Leadership opportunities within our chapter! We will be conducting elections for three key board member positions: President Elect, Vice President, and Secretary. We encourage nominations for these roles, so please consider nominating yourself for a position using this nomination form. We will help you acclimate to this position too. Nominations will be open from March 13th to April 9th, 2024. Official election ballots will be distributed via email on April 10th, and voting will remain open until May 7th, 2024. We'll announce the newly elected board members at our May 14th chapter meeting.

  • Exciting News: ACE Doctoral Student and Nursing Chair Featured on Nurse.com Podcast!

    We wanted to be the first to know that our very own ACE Doctoral student, Kylie Darron, and ACE Nursing Chair, Dr. Bogdan, were recently invited to be part of a Podcast on Nurse.com.
     
    You can access the episode on the Nurse.com website. or go directly to wherever you get your podcasts! Nurse.com will be promoting the episode across their social media platforms the following Monday, 1/22.

  • Sigma Spotlight: Dr. Janice Agazio

    This month, we are bringing to you, Dr. Janice Agazio. Dr. Janice Agazio is currently the Associate Dean and Director of the PhD and DNP programs at The Catholic University of America in the School of Nursing. She retired from active duty in the Army Nurse Corps after twenty-two years of service following her assignment as Assistant Chief of Nursing Research Service at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

    Dr. Agazio is currently serving as a Director, on the board for Sigma Theta Tau International and as representative to the CANS National Advisory Council and Nursing Research Roundtable. She is active in accreditation serving as a team leader and site visitor for the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education

  • Special Edition Newsletter: ACE Month of Impact!

    September is here and that means it is ACE's Month of Impact! As a Chapter member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society, our Chapter, Alpha Beta Phi, is excited to partner with this initiative and make an impact!

    Also, in our special edition newsletter is a look ahead at our September Chapter Member meeting. Guest presenter and Chapter member, Renee Beniak, will share insights on how each of us, as professional nurses, can get involved in grant writing.

  • Sigma Spotlight: Dr. Carole Liske

    This month, we are bringing to you, Dr. Carole Liske. Dr. Liske served as a clinical and academic leader throughout her career and currently serves as an award winning MSN Program Manager at WGU. She works collaboratively with her accomplished 24 member faculty team to support over 4500 students in 16 MSN Core and Nursing Informatics Specialty Courses.

    An active member of Sigma, Carole served in elected and appointed positions and the international, regional, and local levels. At the international level, she currently serves on the Sigma Board of Directors and chairs the Regional Chapters Coordinating Committee. In the past she has chaired the Sigma International Digital Transformation Advisory Task Force to the Sigma Board as well as the Next Generation Leaders Task Force. Carole formerly served as a member of the International Research Congress Planning Committee, the Foundation Fellows Committee, and two Membership Engagement Task Forces. Carole maintains active membership in five chapters, is the Past-President of two chapters, and currently President pf Psi Upsilon Chapter of Sigma- a Region 3 Chapter! Carole is a Sigma Virginia Henderson Fellow and as a philanthropist demonstrating ongoing commitment to the financial support of scholarly activities and global nursing research.

    Carole's commitment to Sigma and her professional collaboration with the 21 Regional Coordinators has furthered their efforts to support out global network of Sigma chapters, the members they serve, and ALL nurses worldwide. Her efforts to ensure nursing excellence and "Joy in Work" is reflected in her leadership philosophy and scholarly presentations. Carole's passion for advocacy and joy is also foundational to her current research on joy and mentoring in nursing. She continues to focus on inspiring and motivating professional colleagues to actively engage in "joyful" professional collaboration and development.

  • Chapter Member Meeting: July

    At our July member meeting, we highlighting the work of fellow Sigma member and ACE Alumni Jessica Rhoden! Jessica graduated in 2021 with her MSN in Nursing Education.

    Jessica is passionate about perinatal nursing and ensuring that nurses on the front lines of care are well-prepared, educated, and equipped to deliver the best care possible. Over the last year, Jessica has been working as a catalyst of change in her field and shared strategies on how to work to solve real problems in the healthcare community!

  • Sigma Spotlight: Dr. Briyana Morrell

    This month, we are bringing to you, Dr. Briyanna Morrell. Dr. Morrell is the Region 9 coordinator for Sigma for the 2021-23 biennium, where she serves as the cheerleader for the wonderful regions in Indiana, Kentucky, and Southern Ohio. She is also a member of the Lambda Epsilon chapter. She has served with the Indiana League for Nursing, the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, and the Indiana Association for Nursing Professional Development. Briyana is an Associate Professor of nursing at the University of Indianapolis, where she has served in some capacity since 2011, teaching primarily critical-care nursing. She received her BSN from TCU, MSN-Nursing Education from Texas Woman's University, and PhD from Catholic University of America. Her research relates to interprofessional education and practice as well as innovative and effective educational strategies (like educational escape rooms). She has received awards for teaching and scholarship, including the University of Indianapolis' Outstanding Faculty Award, the Indiana League for Nursing's Horizon Teaching Award, and the Dr. Janet Rexrode Southby Prize in Nursing Research. She loves seeing students learn and grow as well as connecting with nurses across borders. In her freetime, Briyana enjoys being a wife and mom of two, serving in her church and community, and running marathons.
